"Hustle and Flow" brief analysis

“Hustle and Flow” is an amazing film. It is right on so many levels. This film got it all right. I would say this film was even perfect. The subject matter it deals with is very dark however, and not for the faint of heart. I can’t believe a white guy wrote and directed this film?

Things learned:

The protagonist was a flawed character, and yet somehow we identified with him, and rooted for him.

All of the characters in the film had their arcs. Some came before others, but all of them had an arc.

Again they did a terrific job of destroying your expectations, and making it extremely difficult to predict the end.

This film was so low budget, but it didn’t really show. This film could have been made by anyone. The only special effect was a single gunshot, and the only difficult location was a jail. This film was genius, and expertly crafted.
